Baramulla, Aug 15 (KNO): Cabinet Minister Javed Dar on Friday said the government’s top priority is to ensure transparent, accountable and people-centric governance aimed at strengthening the economic fabric of Jammu & Kashmir.
Addressing the gathering after hoisting the Tricolour in Baramulla, the minister, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), extended greetings to the people and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters and martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation’s freedom and democracy.
Expressing deep sorrow over the devastating cloudburst in Chashoti village of Kishtwar district, Dar said around 65 bodies have been recovered while scores remain missing.
He said the administration and SDRF teams have been working round-the-clock to trace the missing and provide immediate relief. “The entire Jammu and Kashmir stands with the affected families in this hour of grief and the government is making every possible effort to assist them", he added.
Dar also highlighted Baramulla’s achievements, pointing to progress in agriculture, healthcare, education, women and youth empowerment, Jal Jeevan Mission, rural development, road connectivity, social welfare and self-employment.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering governance rooted in transparency, accountability and people’s welfare to drive sustainable economic growth across the Union Territory.
Speaking to reporters, the minister, while turning to Operation Sindoor, hailed the strength and readiness of the country’s armed forces. “We are proud of our soldiers and officers. Our forces are strong and always prepared to face any enemy,” he said—(KNO)
